80/20 Eating Rule I Follow

I do my best to follow the “80/20 Rule” when it comes to the foods I eat. I eat healthy 80% of the time and 20% of the time I allow myself to splurge.
There are 7 days in a week and I eat 3 meals per day, which comes out to 21 meals per week. I eat 17 healthy meals and 4 not so healthy meals each week. I also eat 3 snacks each day. Usually, 2 hours after each main meal. Again, that’s 21 snacks per week. I eat around 17 healthy snacks and 4 not so healthy snacks each week.
I make sure I eat the proper serving size regardless of the food being healthy or not so healthy…….This might be something you want to incorporate if you’ve made the decision to switch to a healthier lifestyle.

Baked Beans with Pine Nutes

Baked Beans with Pine Nuts 

Ingredients:
1-2 lbs fresh green beans, washed and ends snipped (enough to feed 4 people)
3-4 Tablespoons grape seed oil
3-4 Tablespoons pine nuts
5 large garlic cloves, thinly sliced
Onion Salt, to taste
Seasoning Salt, to taste

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 400F. Place beans in a single layer in large baking pan (15 x 13). Set aside.
In a medium skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add nuts and garlic then cook and stir for 1 to 2 minutes until nuts are golden brown. Using a slotted spoon, transfer nuts and garlic to a small bowl. Pour oil from skillet onto beans and toss to coat (can add a little more grape seed oil). Lightly sprinkle with onion salt and seasoning salt then toss to coat.
Roast for 10 to 20 minutes or until crisp-tender. Sprinkle with nuts and garlic. ~ Enjoy!!
Yields: 4 servings

Ingredients:

3 medium carrots

1 tsp. lemon juice (fresh or ReaLemon)

1/4 tsp. cinnamon

1/4 c. dried cranberries (Craisins)

2 Tbsp. cherry yogurt

Instructions:

Peel carrots and apple. Remove core from apple. Shred carrots and apple into large bowl. Add lemon juice and mix to coat well. This helps the apples not turn brown.

Add other ingredients into bowl and combine well. Place in refrigerator at least 1 hour before serving. If you have longer, that is best. Helps the flavors to marry together and give a nice flavor to your salad.

Serve on a bed of leaf lettuce or enjoy alone.

Super simple side dish!!!!

2 INGREDIENT ROASTED CAULIFLOWER

Serves 4

Ingredients:
1 head cauliflower
1 8 oz jar of Sun Dried Tomato Pesto Sauce
Directions:
Preheat over to 450.

Directions:
Toss cauliflower into the pesto sauce until well mixed.
Place on baking sheet and cook for 15 minutes or until crisp.
Only 136 calories per serving!
